Although possibly better known for locomotive design, including 'Flying Scotsman' and 'Mallard', and for the intense rivalry with the LMS over the development of record breaking express services, Sir Nigel Gresley produced some very interesting coaching stock.

Amongst other innovations his designs included articulated sets and some of the earliest streamlined coaches which often look very similar to coaches built 50 years later.

The earlier models, in an exquisitely lined varnished teak livery, were pioneered before the First World War for the GNR and the design was still evolving until the late 1930s with the Silver Jubilee and Coronation sets with their streamlined fairings.

There are thirteen models in the pack and seven livery options enabling trains to be represented (or approximated) over much of this period.
