These are scripted portals which will switch the camera view to cab view on entry and turn off any current bad weather. On exit focus will be restored to the original vehicle and the weather will once again be doing its worst. The spline attachment positions are the same as the station ramp templates and they will also serve as entrance and exit portals for underground or subsurface stations.

There are versions for each tunnel bore:
Type S: Single track, rectangular cross section.
Type D: Double track rectangular cross section.
Type M: UK mainline double track, circular cross section.
Type T: UK single track, small circular cross section.

These portals are unscripted and attach to the track in the same way as a signal or a speedboard.
